As women we handle multiple experiences...with our romantic relationships, our families and our vocations. Postcards to Women had its birth when I wanted to send a friend a note to help her through a situation that I had also experienced. I designed a card on my computer, pulled a file drawer full of my writings, selected one that would inspire and give her strength through the situation, and sent it to her. I received a call thanking me for thinking of her at this time and that the words had meant a lot to her.
The idea for the journal/book Postcards to Women came on a day when I was going through boxes of papers that belonged to my mother and my Mom Porter (my first mother-in-law). They both left me within six months of each other and it took years before I could bring myself to go through their collection of papers. Both had saved postcards. A shoebox was soon filled with a collection of old postcards dating from as early as 1907. I thought of how special it must have been to them to receive these cards since they had been retained all these years. Most of the cards were written by women and so the idea for "Postcards to Women" a journal with cards to send to friends was born. Throughout my travels, I have always sent postcards to family and friends and have a collection of my own purchased as souvenirs.
This book is a journal of beautiful artistic postcards with writings and inspirational sayings that can be sent to friends who need a few words of encouragement or inspiration. A copy of the same postcard is retained in the book for your reading. On the back of the postcard retained in the book is an area to write the name of the person you sent the original postcard to, the date, and a note.
